Beyond White Dove — 5 Alternatives To Benjamin Moore OC-17

White Dove Benjamin Moore OC-17 Alternatives.jpg

As I write this in mid-2020, the white paint trend is still going strong. White is at once both luxurious and casual. Even though white is very much on-trend, it’s hard to imagine a time when white won’t be appealing.

That said, not all white paint colors will give you the results you expect. White paint colors are tricky because they have invisible undertones that don’t present themselves until it’s too late.

Disclaimer: If you have existing white trim and are painting your walls white, OR if you have existing white walls and are painting your trim white, you must coordinate with your existing paint color. Picking a white in isolation will give you unintended results. If, on the other hand, you have a blank slate, dive in and give one of these whites a try.

OC-117 Simply White
One tint lighter. Try this color if White Dove isn’t crisp enough for you.

OC-23 Classic Gray
One shade darker. A good choice if you like the neutrality of White Dove but find it to be too light.

OC-39 Timid White
Don’t be fooled by the name, this color has tons of personality. It’s a little creamier than White Dove. In a home with lots of cool features it could look yellow. If you have a warmer home, this could give you the clean ivory color you’re looking for.

OC-68 Distant Gray
Slightly cooler than White Dove. This color looks best in modern homes with lots of gray or black accents.

OC-45 Swiss Coffee
Goes well with “greige” because of its very subtle green undertones. If you are aiming for the modern farmhouse aesthetic and Revere Pewter (HC-172) appeals to you, this white would pair nicely.
